Today we enjoy an abundance and redundancy of reboots, tv adaptations, and sequels of many movies that were made in 1987 and it could be argued to be one of the best years for movie releases ever. While the classics certainly hold their own value, filmmakers and studios attempt to repackage these films in ways that they will speak to the modern generations using cultural variances and new cinematic methods, technology, and CGI. So here is a list of some of the top movies of 30 years ago and some of its biggest flops.

Original Hits

1. Lethal Weapon- The Mel Gibson and Danny Glover Action Feature which is now a television show on Fox.

2. Predator- The Arnold thriller that has spawned sequels and adaptations.

3. The Princess Bride- The Romantic Comedy that is beloved to this day.

4. Lost Boys- Keifer Sutherland and Jason Patrick become vampires.

5. RoboCop- The movie that spawned sequels, tv shows, and a reboot. It stars Historian Peter Weller.

6. Good Morning Vietnam- The Robin Williams brilliant Comedy Drama about the Vietnam War.

7. The Untouchables- Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, and Robert De Niro in this Ness-Capone historical thriller.

8. Dirty Dancing- Patrick Swayze thrills female audiences with this romantic musical drama.

9. Plains, Trains, and Automobiles- John Candy and Steve Martin in this unbeatable comedy about traveling with strangers.

10. Fatal Attraction- The Classic thriller that had most men scared to date- starring Michael Douglas and Glen Close.

11. Wall Street- Another Michael Douglas film that co-starred Charlie Sheen.

12. Space Balls- This Mel Brooks comedy was fun for everyone except George Lucas.

13. The Running Man- Another Arnold action flick that was set in a future world that executed its criminals by having them compete in a gameshow to the death.
