Since their first episode aired in 2013, HGTV’s Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines have made their way into the homes and hearts of America.  Their show that is based in little Waco, Texas follows the couple as they take their client’s house and turn it into a beautiful home.  Chip’s humor and Joanna’s impeccable style have elevated them to a higher success than they probably ever anticipated.  America loves the Gaines and in turn wants more of them.  The Gaines have responded to America’s desire by turning out more seasons and in October of 2013, opening Magnolia Market at the Silos.  Thousands visit Magnolia Market weekly to find and take a piece of Chip and Joanna to incorporate into their own home.   The Gaines have turned a small city in Texas into a serious travel destination that people from all over the country visit.

Their success rose more and more as they both released books of their journey and wisdom.  Both books have become extremely popular and successful.

Although their books boosted their fame, nothing elevated the Gaines’ success like their new partnership with Target.  On September 12th, the world lost its mind with the announcement that Target would soon be carrying and selling a line by Chip and Joanna Gaines starting November 5th.  This partnership is something that has taken a private company like Magnolia Market and put it in the world’s spotlight.

That spotlight can make or break companies, but it seems like nobody needs to be worrying about the Gaines.  From the beginning, they have always responded to their fame responsibly and with good heads on their shoulders.  They have taken what the spotlight has thrown at them in stride and come out victorious.  They have made it abundantly clear where their main priority lies: their family.

Just a few days after their announcement of their partnership with Target, the Gaines announced that the 5th season of their show would be their last.  They emphasized that it was not due to the collapse of their family or any scandal, but simply a change in course.  Any family can relate to that.  Chip stated in their letter to their fans that, ”[t]his is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment. Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

Their decision to step back is not only responsible, but honorable.  It takes strength and true character to know you can have it all success-wise, and yet only take what you know is healthy for you and your family.  The Gaines’ have not left their fans empty handed.  They have given them a good example of a healthy marriage, products to make their house a home, and a show to warm their hearts.
