After expanding its inclusivity with the release of its plus-size clothing line, Nike is keeping the ball rolling with the announcement of the Nike Pro Hijab, which is reported to hit shelves in the spring of 2018.
This isn't the first time Nike has promoted diversity in sports. Their "What Will They Say about You?" campaign highlights the accomplishments of female athletes, who at times, had to compete against cultural norms. Nike seeks to challenge the idea that you need to look a certain way to be considered a serious athlete. Rather, they've established that “If you have a body, you are an athlete.”
One of the faces of the campaign, Zahra Lahri, stated, “People may think or tell you that you can’t do certain things, but I’m going to show them you absolutely can. I am covered, I am Muslim, I am from a desert country, and I’m doing a winter sport.”
