Side Effects of Keto Diet

The ketogenic diet offers much benefits and it is a major and popular method used to combat obesity and excess fats accumulation in the body. However, as much as the keto diet offers benefits to reduce weight and burn off fats and calories, there are some side effects related to the alteration of the normal body activities encouraged by the diet. It is a fact that intentionally starving the body system the needed carbs and other nutrients expected to be derived from food is a way to alter a change in what the body is accustomed to over time. Side effects of the keto diet and keto diet pills are in various ways and it may affect individuals differently. Those that go through keto diet or buy ketone diet pills are to note the various side effects that may occur so as to prepare for any of them. The common side effects of the keto system are itemized and explained below.

1. Frequent Urination

The keto diet acts to starve the body of needed carbs so as to push it to convert stored glucose and then fats in the body to use as alternative energy. However, as the glucose stored in the liver gets depleted in just few days of using the best keto diet pills out there or subjecting the body to keto diet, the need to urinate increases as the body will release more water. The kidney also will release excess sodium as the rate at which insulin circulate the body drops.

2. Dizziness and Drowsiness

The body also starts to release major nutrients like magnesium, potassium and sodium as the ketosis phase continues unabated and this in turn causes dizziness and drowsiness. This is a side effect that can be avoided or prevented as keto diet may contain food rich in magnesium. These foods include broccoli, leafy greens, meat, poultry and fish, avocados. Some ketogenic diet pills that contain the above named minerals as optional ingredients are important and required to suppress the dizziness and drowsiness.

3. Low Blood Sugar and Constipation

The carbohydrate class of food are the major supplier of the total body sugar and so when the keto diet conditions the body to a little carb, then the body automatically gets low sugar into the blood. The reduction of blood sugar may cause you to feel tired, shaky and hungry as side effects. The other one is the constipation issue which is caused by a body dehydration due to recurrent urination that takes away much of the water in the body. Constipation as a side effect can however be solved by individuals that take lots of water to counter the dehydration. Food containing non-starchy vegetables and good amount of salt and fibre is also required.

 4. Muscle Cramps

This is another side effect of the keto diet and it is an extension of the above explained reason for loss of vital minerals and nutrients in the body. Minerals like sodium, potassium and magnesium are needed in the body and as they get depleted due to keto diet, muscle cramps may occur as a possible signs of mineral deficiency in the body.
